Chapter 1 ~ Lauded Heroes Are For the Birds Review Replies
tkykitty: very interesting start. cant wait to see where it goes! You and me both. I keep waiting for the muses to give me a definite on all the things that are happening, but the details are fuzzy. Good thing I have a basic plot already in mind, yes? Thanks for the review!
Carousel: This is going to be an amazing story. I'm already addicted. Please update soon~ Thanks for the review! I'm glad to see that you're already excited, and I'm sorry that you're addicted. This is going to be a slowly updated fic, sadly. I have a few other projects going on at the same time too. I promise not to make you wait too long, kk?
jujukitty: really interesting start to things, i look forward to seeing where you go with this :) Thank you kindly! I'm kinda worried because this is going to be darker than I normally write, but there's a first time for everything, yes?
Chapter 2 ~ The Attack Review Replies
unneeded: for once i have no real hint where a story is going... and i like that. pls keep it up, i want to find out what happens next. Thanks for the review! And that makes two of us, sadly. It's going though and I'll keep working on it. ^_^
hotflower901: That sound like what I expected the Malfoy trials to go like. Well done Thanks for the review! The trial was probably my favorite part of the chapter to write. And it's fun to work through Draco's perspective, in a way that I didn't think was possible!
LeaniaSTL: Magical backlash hmm? Sounds like that mixed with emotional strain and depression/anger is taking its toll on the two boys. Interesting so far, and I await more; just letting you know I'm still reading, but I don't have much to say (as of yet) Thanks for the review! Yeah, the strain on everyone is kinda heavy, and it won't get any easier any time soon. Poor Draco and Harry, yeah.... *snicker* I'm glad that you're enjoying it, and I promise that next chapter will be fun. It's the first time I've ever written a magic spell battle.
Chapter 3 ~ Unwelcome Visitors Review replies:
hotflower901: Yeah, several less Death Eaters to deal with. Well done Malfoy family That is a group of DEs down, but there are still a lot roaming around. But, I'm proud of Luci, Cissa and Drakie! They handled themselves well and didn't panic under pressure. Although, I can't really see Lucius panicking at all... Smug bastard
jujukitty: another great chapter, and i loved -loved- narcissa and draco putting the aurors in their place as well as draco's quick thinking in shooting at the window to alert them in the first place. keep up the great work, i look forward to more :)
Thanks for the review! I'm glad that you loved the scene with Cissa and Drakie putting those smug Aurors down! I absolutely adored writing it, to be honest here. Draco doesn't get enough credit in the books for being smart, aside from Potions, and being able to get stuff done. I doubt that Lucius's son would be completely useless in a crisis, as HBP shows. I'm happy that you're enjoying this and I hope the next chapter goes as well!
LeaniaSTL: Oh I wonder what's happening and what curse was put on poor Lucius. Seems a bit more severe then just a cut on his arm. Good job on this chapter, look forward to the next. ^.^ Thanks for the review! The curse... Well, you'll just have to find out, won't you? *giggle* It is a lot more severe than just a simple cut, but I can't tell you anymore. Glad you enjoyed. Working on the next chapter at the moment, actually. ^_^
moodysavage: This is a really awesome well-written story. I'm afraid to read your other stories because you said you don't finish them... but I really want to read more of this one!!! Hope this story doesn't stop bugging you and that you write a lot more :) Glad that you took the time to read this story. I do finish my stories! It just takes some time since the muses are fickle. The End Shall Come actually gets updated far more frequently than this and the other two HP fics are one-shots, so you're safe there. I'm already working on chapter five, so no worries about me stopping writing this any time soon. Thanks for the compliment and I'll try my hardest not to let you down!
HeartStar: oh luc had a stroke huh? oh poor draco and nars Nope. Lucius didn't have a stroke. But it's not all good either.
Chapter Four ~ Silly Disagreements With...
LeaniaSTL: Oh, boys never learn hmm? You want something done right, get a woman to scheme for you ;) LOL I love the scheming Narcissa, you may have wrote it, but I've got a devilish grin on my face just thinking of the possibilities. Oh leaving those two alone in a room...*cackles* Devious! Well at least if they harm each other, they don't have to go far, :D
Good job on this chapter, I eagerly await the next! Nope, those boys are STUBBORN, so it takes Narcissa to push things the way she wants! And she only gets better. I absolutely love writing Cissa in this fic. I'm glad that you approve of her as well. She's so much fun! And it's true that they don't have very far to go if it ends in hexes being thrown, but don't count on that, just yet anyway! Glad you enjoyed this chapter and took the time to review. I am working on the next chapter, so hopefully you don't have long to wait.
Chapter Five ~ ...Harry and Draco...
LeaniaSTL: Oh yes, nothing to worry you one bit, Draco. In other words, RUN! LOL. Another wonderful chapter, and I wonder what Draco's scheming with the knowledge that Harry's at least attracted to him. Keep up the good work, and once more, I really am enjoying this Narcissa; much better than her being a frail woman. After all, she's spent all those years with Lucius, she had to have picked up some tricks. I await the next! Leania, I can't tell you how much your review amused the hell out of me! And yes, Draco really should worry. Especially since 'Cissa is consulting with Harry's Healer as well as Lucius's... Dun Dun Dun!!! As for Draco, well, his MOTHER knows what he likes, yes? Hehe. Too bad Harry can't really keep that secret from the blond bombshell. *purr* I'm glad that you like 'Cissa. I think she proved herself in the books to be more than just a trophy wife and I'm banking on it here now that Luci is out of the picture for the time being. I'm working on the next chapter now. Let's see what I get. Oh, and I plan on bringing Hermione into the picture again. Poor, poor 'Mione...
moodysavage follows: lol poor draco... I think his mother is a plotter and draco doesn't have a chance... or harry for that matter lol You've got that right. These boys don't stand a chance with Narcissa on the case. Poor kids. Although, it'll get worse!
jujukitty: another wonderful set of chapters, and they finally get to meet again. very curious about this new attitude of harry's not to mention what cissa's thinking up though i can kinda guess on that one lol. wonder what the curse breaker (and if it's bill) will find and if the aurors were actually truthful about what they found. so many questions, can't wait for the next chapter to see what happens next :D Thanks for reviewing! Yes, and they finally meet again, after all the stupid stuff is out of the way, you know, trial and couple of months of feeling sorry for themselves. =P Harry's attitude is and isn't due to the things he's experienced and the fact that he's just TIRED. Oh, as for 'Cissa, well, she's got her own agenda, and she's not against using everyone around her to get her way. Yes, the Aurors (and the Death Eaters) were truthful, but doesn't mean it's going to be easy to fix him and that it won't have it's own side effects. As for who the Curse Breaker is, you'll just have to wait and see.
Chapter Six - Some Aurors Are Rather Stupid
jujukitty: ahhh, they sure don't know harry if they're getting him that pissed off, should have stuck around til he made something explode lol. hopefully mione'll have a calming influence on him though. and definitely sounds like cissa's goign to be playing matchmaker lol. but shacklebolt and arthur are there now, so hopefully she'll have some competent help with the attack mess. keep up the great work, i look forward to more :D No, they really don't know him at all, and that was his point. And I was thinking of having something explode and then nixed it. Overdone plot device. Bleh. Hermione is going to be sticking around for her friend, but she's going to have to work with Narcissa. And, yes, Cissa is scheming something awful, but it's gonna be fun! Glad you're enjoying it and that you reviewed. Already working on chapter 7.
moodysavage: I think Mrs. Malfoy may know Harry is gay before Harry knows lol She's certainly got a strong inkling, and it works out for Draco, yes?
LeaniaSTL: Oh and what will 'Cissa think when she learns that Harry sees 'Mione as a sister and not as a love interest at all? Even better to befriend her, Hmm? I laughed, Draco ever so vain, but of course his upbringing would've ingrained that into him. I loved how 'Cissa found amusement in his reaction too, a woman of many layers. Really, what were those people thinking, pissing Harry off like that. As if he hadn't saved them all from someone they all feared at such a young age to boot, then try to intimidate him? Really people! Another wonderful chapter, and I await the next! Well, it's obvious to everyone that Harry doesn't really see 'Mione as a love interest, which works in favor of 'Cissa's plans. But, yeah, it is better to befriend the Muggle-born girl to further her own ends. Besides, Hermione has charms all her own, yes? And why wouldn't Narcissa find some humor in her silly son's reactions? They were cute and humourous and easy to guess. And the Aurors are thinking of Harry as the property of the Wizarding world, just like they have since he defeated Voldemort the first time. It's hard to change their thoughts of seventeen years in a few short months. Glad that you like the chapter. Next one is being worked on right now. ^_^
Chapter Seven - Moronic Death Eaters Are Truly Troubling
LeaniaSTL: Another wonderful chapter! Is Draco starting to figure out Cissa's plans? Or guessing what she may have planned. Hmm, Bill may be the only Curse Breaker willing to help, is their disdain really that bad that they'd refuse the only person who might be willing? Oh and a Cissa well rested has a much sharper mind; wonder what scheme's she comes up with. Oh, Draco's learning what his Mum has in mind, and he's kinda scared that she's so freaking sneaky and he never knew it! And it's not so much that they disdain the Weasleys anymore, but that they are distrustful, especially considering Draco's involvement with Bill's disfiguration. They don't TRUST anyone. Except for maybe Harry, but he's such a bloody Gryffindor that it can't be avoided. And you really can't figure out what Narcissa has planned? I'd hoped that you would guess! /cry
moodysavage: ooohhh Narcissa... planning is good... very very good. Now how does she plan on getting Potter under her roof? I'm guessing by telling him he won't have to bother with well meaning friends but he will still be able to follow 'doctors orders'? :) YAY! Moody! You might be right, but I can't tell you. Would ruin the surprise, right? And Narcissa is so plotty in this that I can't help but love her! *looks at the muses* They LOVE 'Cissa here.
Chapter Eight - All the World Is a Stage Reviews
moodysavage: lol oh I just love Draco's mother... this story has such great pacing and each chapter moves the story along really well... great writing!!! Grats on being first in responding to this chapter! Um, I adore Narcissa too. She's actually kinda fun to play around with as she plots to get Draco what he wants. ^_^ Thanks for the compliments. I do try to make sure that things that are in the story are relevant and entertaining. It's a delicate balancing act. However, this chapter wrote itself out because the boys were just so perfect at that moment. *shrug*
Carousel: I absolutely love this story. It's clever and I can feel the tension increasing. Ooh la la~ I can't wait for more. I also love the way you present Narcissa Malfoy. This is exactly how I imagine her, calculating and elegant. Thanks for the review. I really do love writing this fic. Narcissa makes it well worth the trouble Draco and Harry give me. Yes, the tension has definitely ratcheted up a few notches now that Narcissa is making a move. Well, everyone seems to forget that Narcissa is a tough cookie in her own right. I mean, she's married to Lucius and the mother of Draco.... How could she be some weak-willed flower, name not withstanding?
LeaniaSTL: Wow that was a good one, and no I couldn't figure that one out. Who knew the press were good for something, eh? I loved Draco's epiphany, that 'Mother what have you done...' part, LOVED IT! You could almost see the cold sweat running down his back. Hmm, is Cissa going to mention that Harry can't be left home alone and scheme to somehow get him into the Manor? Or perhaps under the pretense of having Draco and Harry work together to deal with this magical backlash? She's a crafty woman, highly intelligent, and the least expected. As its been said numerous times (and yet no one listens), never trust a beautiful woman. Keep up the good work, look forward to the next! Well, Leania, I guess I'll have to forgive you. Narcissa hasn't been very straightforward about her plans in the story, yeah? She leaves that to the Gryffindors. Subtly is her thing. Oh, yes, Draco was about to have a slight panic attack when he realized what his mother had done. And yes, it's true that the beautiful women are the ones you have to watch out for, especially when they are known to be scheming... But Draco didn't pay any mind to that.... His mistake. And I can't tell you what Narcissa has planned, but I'll tell you that you're close.
Zenith-Kaitou: Can't wait for and update for this story. very nicely written :) Thanks for reviewing! I'm happy to see that you are enjoying it. This is currently my favorite story to work on, so seeing others getting hooked is awesome. Hope to see you next chapter.
jujukitty: nothing like an angry, volatile harry and draco playing the heroic prince to the rescue lol good ole cissa, can't wait to see what happens next :D JUJU! Long time, no review! I thought the same thing about Harry and Draco. Nice to see D doing the saving every once in a while, yes?. And Narcissa continues to plot everything the way she wants things to go. It's just serendipity that they actually *go* the way she wants. ^_^ Hope to see you next chapter.
Chapter Nine - Actors Must Learn Their Lines Review Replies
mako: I really love your story!! Please update soon! ;) You stole my name, but seeing as how you reviewed, I'll forgive you! I'm really glad that you enjoyed it and I will update as soon as I can get the muses to cooperate with me to get more written than one paltry scene. Hope to see you next chapter.
Chapter Ten ~ Mutually Beneficial Allies Review Replies
moodysavage: you're in trouble now Harry lol
that chapter was so fun to read, I loved how Hermione was there and Harry knew immediately that Ron had done something stupid to upset her which shows how close they are... and how Draco just slid naturally right in to the conversation but was totally confused by the good witch comment... and how Hermione told Draco that he was so not leaving the room till she got some answers... really fun to read lol Yes, Harry *and* Draco are in so much trouble. I'm glad that you liked it and found it fun to read. It was fun to write, I think, and wasn't all that difficult. I love Harry and Hermione's relationship in this story. It's easy and virtually uncomplicated with its own complicatedness added in by the addition of Ron's actions and reactions. (Does that even make sense outside of my own head? I don't know!) Narcissa isn't going to be the only Malfoy impressed by Hermione's actions and her staunch support of Harry. And that will make it *so* much easier for him to get what he wants, yes? But, Hermione wants ANSWERS, and both boys must supply them, so Draco can't just slink off like he really wants. Glad that you had fun, and I just hope that you enjoy the answers they give her next chapter.
thrnbrooke: Oh the boys are in trouble now!!! Soooo need more! Thrnbrooke! Nice to see you again! Yes, the boys are in trouble, but don't worry. It won't be *too* bad. Working on chapter 11 now!
Cuteloopie2: Wonderful Story! Thanks! One does like to hear that their efforts are appreciated!
Mommy4ever: OOOh where are you going with this? I must find out. Please update soon. Well, I can't *tell* you where I'm going with this. It would spoil the story for you! It will be eventual H/D, of course, because that's all I can seem to write nowadays, much to my Gundam Wing fans dismay. =P You'll be happy to know that I just received chapter 11 from my beta and I'll be posting it on Friday.
Chapter 11 ~ Coming Home? Review Replies
unneeded: I don't think i've reviewed on this one before... or read it and now I'm seriously wondering why i haven't. It's so much FUN. grins and shakes my head at 'Cissa. Slyth through and through but since her plotting will be mutually beneficial, all i can say is 'you go girl.' Draco and Har are going to be fun together too. not cute per say but fun. snarky, argumentative and real, if that makes sense. They'll fight and make up and, i think, they'll even become friends as well as lovers in the end.
I do truly hope Mio connects with someone worthy of her cause Ron sure as hell isn't atm. He really needs to grow the hell up. I could feel sorry for Luc, but this is the only thing that's keeping him off that damned rock. once was more than enough, neh? I'm very much enjoying 'cissa and draco's plots and I look forward to seeing how it all falls out. ^^
could ron be suffering from the same thing... the fall out i mean. is that why or at least part of why he's being such a monumental twat... and he had anger issues to begin with. You reviewed once, on chapter two, but not since then. I just put it down as you forgot about it, but I'm glad to see that you came back! Trust me, it's just as much fun to write as it is to read. Maybe more because then I get to see all the different opinions about what's going on. ^_^ Don't feel sorry for Lucius. He made his bed a long time agao, and now he's paying for it. And you're right, better than Azkaban.
Narcissa is turning out to be one of my favorite characters in this story. She's so sneaky! Just wait until you see next chapter. You'll see what she has up her sleeve and who she recruits to help along her plans. Unlikely pairing. I've tried to keep Harry and Draco as in-character as I possibly could, considering how much BULLSHIT they have to comb through before they can become lovers. It's never going to be perfect, but at least it'll be *real*. As for Ron and Hermione, you'll just have to keep reading to find out.
Chapter 12 ~ Dirty, Scheming Slytherins Reviews
thrnbrooke: I soooo agree with Draco! Can't wait for more!!!! Thanks for the review, thrnbrooke, and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I agree with Draco as well. He and Harry have great potential to be much more than friends, especially if he listens to his mother. Chapter 13 is with the beta right now!
TalisRuadair: I really do like where you're going with this. I cannot wait to see what will happen next. I would love to see Charley make an appearance at some point, but I understand why Draco wouldn't want more than one Weasley in his home. I also cannot help but wonder if Hermione is going to stay at the Manor with Harry or if she is going to go back to the Burrow. I think it would be great if she dropped Ron in this fiction because he doesn't seem to have an redeeming qualities. Why thank you! I love this story and it seems to just flow from my fingertips when I sit down to write it! I thought about having Ron and George go with Bill, as Charlie would be back in Romania, but my beta was very much against it. It would be too difficult to keep them from trying to kill each other, and Charlie simply hasn't come into play yet. I haven't decided on where Hermione is actually staying while in Britain. I would assume she's at her own house, since she and her parents have finally returned from Australia. As far as her relationship with Ron goes, well, he's got some grovelling to do, and even then it may not be enough. However, he *can* be redeemed. He just has to come to terms with things.
kain: Awesome fic, and i totally agree with everything Bill said in his letter in regards to the Malfoys. Surprisingly enough, Bill's letter was probably the easiest thing to write for the entire chapter. He was honest and to the point. Something that Draco and Narcissa should really keep in mind.
moodysavage: I've read a lot of descriptions about how Draco and Harry met and what they thought of each other... and I think the one you have written here is one of my favorites. It clearly shows what their reactions were and why as well as the results of those first two meetings. Not too short and not too long... just right! Moody! Yes, I've read a ton of the rehashing of their first year drama as well. It's something that they *have* to discuss, just like the whole fifth year and sixth year Crucio/Sectumsempra incidents. That's for later. There's no way that they can even begin to understand one another unless they realize what they've done to hurt each other and why. It's not to dwell; it's to heal! And I'm happy to say that they both realize this. I loved writing that scene, especially the end where they finally shake hands.
Chapter 13 ~ Getting to Know You Reviews
ChaosLady: Well, crap! I want to know what happens next! Update soon! Hehe, well, the next chapter is actually with the beta, and since I've sent her a few chapters and she tries to have a pesky RL, I dunno when the next chapter is coming out. Sorry!
moodysavage: omgosh Lucius is not safe in the hospital!!! he's like the forgotten character!!! you've got to get him out of there now... like... hurry! No, Lucius is *not* safe in the hospital, but I haven't forgotten him at all. Narcissa and Draco are making plans to get him out as soon as they can. Sadly, his abuser is his Healer, so it's difficult right now. Don't worry though. Lucius won't be staying there for very long. ^_^ I just thought you readers needed to be reminded that Lucius was still alive. ~^
TalisRuadair: They seriously need to get him out of that hospital. I really hope that healer doesn't do anything too devastating. I look forward to the next update as always. Working on that! And you'll find out what the healer does soon enough. Pesky, pesky healer!
unneeded: drat. i missed a chappie. That's one of the major issues i have with AFF. no update alerts.
*rubs hands gleefully. soooooooooooooooooo much review fodder.
well, ick. tmi about former classmates and then some.
be wary of females plotting... unless, no, especially when they're plotting on your behalf. :P
well, maybe Kreature will behave himself a bit better now.
good idea with the oaths. i hope bill goes for it.
most interesting. I wonder if it's also in the potter family records.
Gah! the sooner they get luc outta there the better. those two healers are a disgrace. I knew you'd get around to reviewing, darling. No need to stress about it. Sorry about the TMI, but it was a conversation the boys sorta needed to have to make them a bit more comfortable around one another. I agree that one should always worry about women left alone to plot. Kreatcher is... going to be himself, I suppose. You'll find out Bill's response soon enough. Yes, there is, but Harry hasn't checked yet, so he has no idea. Yes, well, they are going to get Lucius out of the hospital as soon as possible. Plans are underway already. I'm sorry you don't like the Healers. >>
jujukitty: yay, had lots of chapters to catch up on, but now i'm all out *sniffles* love the story so far, cissa and mione plotting behind the boys' back and draco's planningn and harry just along for the ride lol. and that last little bit with luc's healer sounded kind of ominous, hope they get him home sooner than later. keep up the great work, can't wait for mroe :D
I wondered where you went, Juju! It's nice to see you're up-to-date now! I had a computer issue, but chapter 14 should be ready in a day or two. Sorry! I was NOT pleased when I learned I had to reformat my computer after just a little over a year of ownership. >> Glad to see that you're enjoying all the plotting going on. Too bad Harry won't share your sentiments when he finds out. Yeah, Lucius's Healer is NOT a nice person and it could be bad for everyone, but I'm not telling you anything else! You'll just have to wait. Hope to see you next chapter! <3
Chapter 14 ~ A Puzzlement Reviews
unneeded: well, ouch. still, it's at least out in the open now. If there's one thing har hates even more than being puppet mastered, it's being left in the dark while he's being puppet mastered.Yeah and I never said that Harry was going to take it well once he knew everything. In fact, he's pretty pissed, but he hasn't figured out how to deal with what's going on. And I'm proud of my Draco for coming clean!
jujukitty: awww, poor draco and poor harry having his life manipulated again, though really draco should have more faith in harry lol. another wonderful chapter, keep up the good work :D Yeah, poor Draco for not knowing what the hell is going to happen next. Harry's just sick and tired of the manipulations, even if he doesn't understand how they work. He's gonna have to talk to Hermione and 'Cissa to figure out how he really feels about it. Good thing he doesn't know what the ladies are doing, right? Thanks for the review! Working on the next chapter now, in between other things.
HeatherWashabaugh: I hope Harry makes the right decision. Harry just needs a minute to think things through. When he's got a full grasp of what's actually going on, he'll make the decision that's right for him.
MakeupDiva84: Great story so far. I hope that Harry and Draco become closer and closer. I'm still waiting for them to be together. Thanks for reviewing! Glad that you're enjoying it. It's going to take longer for Harry and Draco to get to that point, but eventually they will. I promise!
moodysavage: Poor Draco!!! I guess he hoped that Harry would immediately accept the situation because he knows that Harry is attracted to him. But Draco just presented the situation... he never said anything about his feelings for Harry. Actually I don't think he has any real feelings for Harry yet he is still thinking like a Slytherin and accepting the advantages of the situation. But Harry would not ever want to force someone into a situation they did not trully want. He'd want to find alternatives that would be best for the other person and not put his own wants first.
I'm guessing Harry will accept though in order to save Draco's magic because he knows how important that is to Draco. Poor Harry too... still not wanted for himself. I'm glad Draco was honest with Harry. Draco really didn't know what was going to happen besides Harry resenting the fact that his life was out of his hands, yet again. He *did* hope that he'd get an answer that night, but it's not the end of the world. And he's not sure about his feelings for the other boy. He's only just got control of his own life himself. However, he doesn't find the idea of being with Harry repulsive. How sexy for Harry, yeah? You're right about how Harry would see it, but he *does* want Draco, so maybe Narcissa and Hermione can convince him to be selfish for once? Draco's glad he was honest as well, but he's seeing the downside to his honesty as well.
LeaniaSTL: Aww, a sad Draco; doesn't he realize that Harry is a kind soul that even if he didn't have an interest in Draco, he'd accept the assistance because he wouldn't be able to cause Narcissa or Draco to become Squibs. Boy do these two have a fun roller coaster ahead of them! So these emotional upheavles (anger->happyness->sadness cycle) aid in the recovery process, the Draco and Harry will be healed in no time...now Narcissa's sanity and hearing may suffer. (Own personal thoughts and things I'd make happen if it was my story.) So sorry I've been rather absent, your feedback on LJ not only gave me a kick in the pants to get back to this story, but made me feel so very special! Most times my reviews are ignored, so I was oh so pleased. Keep up the good work, m'dear makoto, I do look forward to the next chapter(s)! LEANIA! You're back! YAY! *does happy dance of silliness* Draco knows about Harry's kindness, but he's not sure that he, or his family, deserve such attention from someone like Harry. Yes, Harry would accept the assistance if he wasn't already interested in Draco, but he'd like to know that if something happened between them that it was because Draco wanted Harry, not because he had to do it. I know that the two are so fucked coming up, and not in the good way. ^_^ I r evil like that. And of course you were missed. Don't be daft. I always enjoy a great review, and I love replying to yours here. Dunno when the next chapter is coming out. I'm in the middle of writing a LONG one-shot for the 2012 H/D Career Fair here on LJ. But, the good news is that that is going swimmingly. ^_^
Chapter Fifteen ~ A Time for Thought and a Time for Action Reviews
jujukitty: yay for more story! poor confuzzled harry, he really does need to stop overthinking so much, good thing the other three are there to help him sort things out. and i love how draco still gets the whole embarassed flush when he knows he's said or done something to disappoint his mother lol. keep up the great work, i look forward to more :) Harry's too good for his own good. He needs to be more selfish. This is the perfect opportunity for him to actually *get* Draco, and all he can think about is the fact that Draco *has* to make these offers. He hasn't asked Draco ONE TIME if he wanted to make the offers outside of the debt. Really, it's stupid. And he's lucky that Draco, Hermione and Narcissa are willing to help him make up his silly little mind, instead of demanding answers, like the Weasleys do. Well, of course, Draco may be Lord of the Manor, but Narcissa is still his Mum! Thanks for reviewing. You were actually the first for this chapter! Working on the next. Definite Bill and Fleur though!
kain: hmm well the Malfoy family losing their magic and being squibs would certainly be poetic justice lol. Love the story although the occasional digs at the Weasley family for being 'Beneath' the Malfoy family kinda irk me at times since the distrust and outright hate being thown at the Malfoy family is justified and while its in grand Slytherin fashion, Narcissa's constant scheming just makes me feel like she is less repentant for her role in things and more or less adapting to the worlds new order. I mean they just come off as sooooooo smug even though their side lost the war and while i have a small amount of sympathy for Lucius, he has racked up some bad karma in his time and even if he is healed i feel should still own up to his crimes and not hide behind the actions of the one Malfoy who had the balls to try and pull one over on Voldemort. I'm sorry if this review came off as a rant and I am honestly not trying to flame you, it just grinds my gears when I read post-war stories where the malfoy's seemingly get off completely Scott free for the actions of Narcissa while barely losing anything and being set up to gain more just because their NOW being nice to harry and acting like their still better than everyone despite being Bigots and committing atrocities in the name of a madman while the Weasley family are made to look like below standard imbeciles and getting the "Ron- the death eater" (look up tropes) treatment while having lost loved ones fighting for whats right. Again sorry if this came off as a rant, I just REALLY had to get that off my chest. this is a very good story and i will continue reading regardless of where you go with it. Wow, okay, let me address this review. 1) This story is going to be from the Malfoys POV, so you're going to SEE how they think and act from their own perspectives, not outside forces. The only person who isn't a Malfoy who gets a word in is Harry, and that's because of the way the story is playing out. 2) They did NOT get off scott free. Lucius was found to be basically Mentally incompetent because of the damage the magical backlash did to stand trial. He was, however, found guilty of EVERY crime he was charged with, but they gave him PERMANENT house arrest. Draco was underage and under extreme duress. He was let off. Narcissa was never PROVEN to be a Death Eater, and she also HELPED Harry in the Final Battle. This world is attempting fairness, but there's harshness as well. 3) Lucius is never going to be healed back to where he could stand responsible for his crimes. That's why his life-debt gets shoved onto Draco's shoulders as the head of the family. That was discussed, many times, by the way. 4) The Weasleys.... I'm torn by the family. As a whole, they're great people, but Ron and Ginny individually make me sick. Ron's probably the worst friend I've ever seen, and that's saying something. Harry and Ginny's romance was lukewarm, at best, and I really didn't see any reason for them to end up married, aside from the fact that it was EXPECTED. I'm glad that you found SOMETHING in my story to like, but, really, I see the Malfoys as way more complicated as you are making them out to be. They are MORE than just bigots and people who followed a madman. They're human. They're a family. And they WANT to adjust to the new regime. Did you miss the part where they can't go out in public? Where the Aurors pretty much accused them in their own home when it was obvious they were attacked by the loose Death Eaters? Did you miss where they have been COOPERATING with the Ministry? You did? Well, perhaps you should go back and read the first few chapters again. Remember, everyone at the Final Battle was hit with the magical backlash - a mixture of EXTREME depression and PTSD. Depending on exposure to Voldemort is how much you got. Welcome to Harry, Lucius and Draco. Enjoy!
unneeded: I don't think it will take long for har to go from doing his hero thing to genuine feelings. Har just doesn't like being pushed or forced into stuff and that's how he's feeling atm. I hope he takes Cissa's advice and meditates on it rather than going with his knee jerk reaction. I am soooooooooooo glad they got Luc out of there. That 'healer' is a menace. Wow, Bill and Fleur turned up pretty quick too. I hope they can help. Luc may have been a complete bastard but even he doesn't deserve the 'care' he was being given. yay for Mio, she is epic with her support. Harry's already got feelings for Draco. He's just not sure how Blondie feels, and that's what is eating him up inside. He wants, no, needs to know, but Draco's not even sure. Only Narcissa and Hermione are able to see it, but that's because they are OUTSIDE of the situation and have that luxury. Harry *is* going to sit and think about what's happened and how he feels about everything. Once he has that down, he'll talk to Draco. However, it's going to take someone who's outside of the immediate circle of the Malfoys, Harry and Hermione to really wake the boys up to their true feelings. Well, the plan was always to have Lucius at the Manor when Bill agreed to assist them. However, Narcissa and Draco still don't know what Mindwillow actually did to Lucius. But they're going to find out.... Bill and Fleur showed up so quickly so they could check on their "little brother" and Hermione. They don't trust the Malfoys and don't want to leave their family somewhere there's a potential for hurt.I agree that Lucius was a bastard, but I don't know if I think he doesn't deserve what he got from Mindwillow. It's not like we know ALL of Lucius's victims from both wars, yanno? Oh yeah, Hermione is Harry's friend and she's not afraid to show it!
thrnbrooke: Harry just wants to be loved. If only Draco would show him that he could love him. Draco doesn't know that about Harry. He hasn't heard ANYTHING about his past, so he's only going on what he's seen so far. He's trying, really, to determine how to get what he wants and needs while balancing Harry's desires and necessities at the same time. It's a very slippery thing for him because he doesn't have all the puzzle pieces yet. He'll get a few more in the next chapter though!
Chapter Sixteen ~ Home-grown Healers
greenhaze: I love this story. I think you deserve it when I say this is one of the best H/D fics I've read on this story so far (and God knows you have to comb through them to find a gem here :D) I love your attention to detail and characterization, and how you choose to take the story to progress slowly as it should because these boys do have to work through some stuff before they can have a romantic relationship, I think. The attraction and fascination with each other is always there, of course and there's always so much potential there but it's supposed to take them awhile. One of the things I really love about them is how these two boys fit together (or have the potential to), how Harry needs someone like Draco in his life to encourage him to be selfish for once in his life instead of the way Ginny (along with Mrs Weasley and Ron) would want him to give and give and give just because Harry has to be the bigger person in every goddamn thing, and reprimand him and guilt him when he acts less than perfect. This is one of the things I always found problematic in Harry and Ron's relationship, he has too many expectations from Harry and isn't able to understand that Harry has his own demons like Hermione can (I love your portrayal of Harry and Hermione's relationship, it's the way it is in canon. Too many times in H/D fic Ron is portrayed as the only true best friend Harry has and Hermione's portrayed as just Ron's wife/girlfriend and nothing more, which pisses me off) I like Narcissa with all her sneakiness and delicacy, haha. I can't say the same for Lucius, he does need to suffer for all the things he has done, he's just lucky he's not in Azkaban because he would deserve it, I'm sure there are people who went into Azkaban for less than what Lucius did, Lucius just got free because of his priviledges and Harry. Draco is just perfect with all his uncertainty and there's the hesitant beginnings of longing here from both boys' side, I love that. Their chemistry is palpable, I love how they tense up when they look into each other's eyes or one of them smiles at the other. I always wait patiently for updates on this story, thank you for writing and update soon :) *blush* Why thank you! There are a lot of stories to comb through to find the good ones, I'll give you that. I think that making the story slower so they can comb through the things that have happened was the better way to do it. Sure, I could have sped through the little details, but that would have made it feel fabricated, and I was going for more authentic. It's nice to see that my efforts have paid off. Harry and Draco are nice opposites. No one can really push Draco around and Harry's a nicer person. I think they balance each other out, truthfully. I agree that Harry does have a habit of letting ppl tell him what he should do so he can live up to their expectations, and the Weasley family (aside from Dumbledore and Snape) have always been the biggest manipulators of the poor boy. I feel that the relationship between Harry and Hermione has NEVER been combed very in-depth because Ron's much more confrontational and ppl seem to think that Hermione is a shrew. Neither fact has ever sat well with me. Hermione *was* the one to first physically strike Draco, if one recalls canon. =P Narcissa's been a fun character to develop in this story. I see her so often as just Lucius's wife or just Draco's mother and she's not really given much consideration as a full character herself, unlike Molly Weasley. Besides, she can guilt Draco *so* well, why wouldn't I play with that? Lucius, on the other hand, is unsympathetic, in my opinion. Yes, he's been cursed and injured. Yes, there's a good chance he could die, but he did that to himself. There was a reason that he was found guilty on every charge against him. The only reason he's not rotting in Azkaban is because Harry found some sort of tiny bit of empathy for him, and the fact that he's very, very ill and likely never to recover. Hence the whole pressure on Draco about the debt of honour. I wanted a slow romance between Harry and Draco, fraught with danger and angst. I think I've succeeded, yes? Thank you for taking the time to review. It's always great to hear what my readers think, positive and negative!
unneeded: Oh hells, what a mess. Still, at least bill and draco are willing to bury the hatchet. Okay, it's pretty much a given Ron and to a lesser degree the rest of the weasleys are suffering that lash back thing... now if only there's a way to help them. neh, if they reverse the botched thingie on Luc and he reverts... does that mean he'd get his magic n such back considering he'd still be counted as a head case? Yeah, it's pretty screwed up, I'll admit, but I always meant for that to be the case. It was never going to be easy for Harry and Draco to get together and it's only going to get worse. Sorry. Bill isn't unreasonable, and Draco can see that if he wants to keep Harry around, he's going to have to deal with the Weasleys on a civilised level. Everyone present at the Final Battle suffered from the magical backlash to one degree or another. That is what everyone's forgetting. Hermione is doing better because of the time she spent out of the country. Narcissa has Lucius, Draco, and Harry (now) around her to dispel the effects. It's harder for the Weasleys with Fred's death. Since no one will talk about it, they've not gotten any better. Eh, but that will come out later. Lucius never lost his magic. He fought back when they were attacked by the rogue DEs, remember? He just hasn't been very well. Now, him getting his hands on another wand... That's a question for another time. ~^
LeaniaSTL: Oh, I don't know if I like the sound of that. If even Narcissa questions curing him, then it must be bad! My initial thought is maim/torture/eventually kill with glee (kinda like Bella only male and not as insane), but I'm wondering what else there could be. Makes me wonder if Voldie leashed in his more violent tendancies, or made him pull his sanity in more? (Luc that is, not Voldie's sanity...we all know near the end the first time he had very little, and by the second time around there was none.) Herm needs a better boy-toy, Ron's just an ass and needs to be dropped like a bad habit. Keep up the good work, I look forward to more Narcissa has lived through Lucius already once before. She knows exactly how bad it will be, especially if she has Harry Potter living in the Manor with Lucius like that. You'd be correct in stating that he would be like that, but there is always a sadistic side to Lucius that has had nothing to do with insanity, just a lack of empathy for others outside of the Malfoy family. No, Voldemort didn't leash Lucius in until the prat failed him at the DoM and got his arse tossed in prison. Then, he determined that he had carte blanche with the whole family for that one failure, and Lucius's cowardice in general. At least now we know where Draco got it from, right? (I don't know if Voldemort's ever been sane, but he was once charismatic. He had to be to convince Lucius *and* Abraxas to follow him.) Hermione *does* deserve better. Just like Draco thought chapters ago, it's a pity that Blaise is out of the country in France. =P Ron's got his own problems dealing with the backlash, and it'll be address later, I promise, but I doubt that I'll be getting them back together. Thanks for reviewing! Working on Wooing and The End Shall Come right now, but you'll get a new chapter of Merlin sometime, soonish.
delia cerrano follows: Ok I'm lost. What was he like before everything? How is Harry affected by that? Apparently badly...like does it turn out that it's something that prevents Harry & Draco from beimg together? Sounds like it. No no no that can't happen!!! I want them getting MUCH closer in the next chapter please not farther apart. I'm anxious to see Ron come to see Harry..at Draco's house..& Hermione there with Harry & Draco! Should be quite a chapter. Lucius would be returning to a time, mentally, before Voldemort's first defeat. So, he would have someone who looks an awful lot like JAMES POTTER (a big time target) in his house. He doesn't even really have to know it's Harry to go after him. He's a Potter and Lucius is a Death Eater. What better way to get the "victory" he so wanted for his Lord? That's why it's bad. I cannot tell you how it will affect Harry and Draco, because that would spoil everything for you, but I'm going to be honest, I like happy endings. =P Ron is going to show up soonish, but not the next chapter. Sorry.
Chapter Seventeen ~ Revenge is Spiffy Reviews
ChaosLady: Well, the next chapter ought to be very interesting. I certainly hope so. There are a few things I have to clear up and then there shall be a time jump to move the story along some.
jujukitty: so glad to see more of this. poor draco and cissa, damned if they do and damned if they don't with lucius, i just want to cuddle both the boys to pieces. keep up the great work, i look forward to more Thanks for reviewing! Yeah, Narcissa and Draco are stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to Lucius. It's a pretty ugly situation, but such is life, right? Harry and Draco could use the cuddles, but I think they'd resent them. I shall try to get the next chapter out as soon as I can!
delia cerrano: Just when it was getting into stuff again you stopped!! Yes that was me whining. Please update quick. Sorry about it teasing you? *patpat* You're entitled to whine, since you reviewed. I am trying to work on the next chapter as soon as I can, but I'm dealing with a bunch of stuffs right now. :(
Seiren: I love the title of this story, just to say that first. I love the way the character seem more realistic than you usually find in fanfiction and am enjoying the storyline very much. Cant wait to see what happens to Lucius. I hope he gets cured personlly but I shall stick with you and see what happens. Whatever way it turns out Im sure Harry will find happiness with Draco, so I'll be happy with that :D Thanks! I love the title for this story. I doubt anyone else is going to use it, right? I do try to keep the characters as real as can possibly done, considering we're talking about a world of magic here. Lucius's problem will be fixed shortly, but that'll be another set of issues for Harry and Draco, I'm sorry to say. And, because this is me, you can guarantee that Harry and Draco are going to end up together and relatively happy, but the road there is going to be rocky, to say the least.
Silverkitten: Just finished revenge is spiffy. Wow, I love everything about this, the new character dynamics, the magic. Very well done, and I can't wait to read more. I'm desperate to know what dear Draco will decide to do about his father! THank you for reviewing! I'm glad that you're enjoying it. I'm working on the next chapter and Draco's decision will come to play next chapter, I promise.
unneeded: makes a face. i keep mistaking this for another, rather less fun story and not reading it. this is what happens when you watch dozens of stories. >> sigh, har isn't being very gracious about it but then who would be. at least he knows now. i'm glad draco has found someone to confide/discuss stuff with, even if it wasn't his first choice. Mio will at least look at things moderately objectively. i doubt there's much she can do about it as it's one big super tangled mess. If sev's portrait was still at hogwarts, i'd reckon draco should stop by and have chattage. You should kknow by now that I do't write not fun stories. =P It's okay; you're forgiven this time. You're right that Harry's being very unfair, but it's not a fair sort of situation, now is it? Yes, Hermione isn't his first choice, but she's the best ally he could possibly ask for in this situation, isn't she? And the portrait idea is something I didn't think of, but we all know that Snape would HATE to be up there with the other former Headmasters, now wouldn't he?
Chapter Eighteen ~ Tick Tock, Tick Tock Reviews
delia cerrano: You couldn't have written just a few more paragraphs? Just to figure out what's going to happen to Lucius & even more importantly when is Harry going to get with Draco! I see Ron is still a twit. Sorry, no, because that is what the muses wanted. I think you're lucky that I even gave you a half-way decent ending because they're in a snit about how slow the bad stuff is taking to get there. Harry and Draco will get together when Harry finally gets his head out of his arse. Yes, Ron's still being a twat.
unneeded: somehow i don't think draco will have a prob with being stuck with him. ^^... though, luc might. >> You're right about Draco not having a problem about being stuck with Harry. He's looking forward to "failing" to find an appropriate partner for Harry. And stop reading over my shoulder! ~^
Seiren: Aha, if Drake and Harry's road wasnt rocky then it wouldnt seem natural. Glad Harry gt to his decision in this chapter. Hope Harry has some fun searching for a wife. before he realises Draco is his one :P thanks for the chapter! Oh, god, if it was easy, it would be BORING! And these two are anything but. Yes, Harry's decision finally came out. The search isn't going to last for very long, because Draco's going to make Harry realise what's before him. Thanks for reviewing!
jujukitty: awww, thank goodness for bill and fleur, finally managing to talk harry into things. and of course you know draco's going to ensure that none of the likely candidates are ever going to be good enough for both families lol. keep up the great work :) Are you reading over my shoulder too? Sheesh! But, you're right that Draco's going to make it difficult. He wants Harry for himself. Yes, Bill and Fleur gave him a talking-to that woke him up! Thanks for reviewing!
Chapter Nineteen ~ Scouring the Land Reviews
CareLessLover: I jumped for joy when I saw the new update. The plot just keeps getting better. Heheh... Ron, watch out. Not that I care what happens to him, I'm cheering for Draco and Harry. THank you! It's always nice to see that my hard work is appreciated. Ron needs to watch out. Draco does NOT like him. But, aren't we all cheering for the Drarry?
Diana: I loved this chapter, I barely can wait to know what will happen next! Update soon! Thanks. I thought it was a little short, but it worked, so I'm happy. Working on the next chapter now, but I'm trying to finish Wooing the Reluctant since I'm on the final chapter of that one.
delia cerrano: Yea Draco!!! Go get him tiger. I'll bet Harry goes also. Hope that doesn't stop Harry & Draco from having a heart to heart about how they really feel. You're right about Harry wanting to go, but you forgot that Hermione's still there too. =P The boys aren't done being stupid yet. Sorry.
Saurora9: Great story! Love it! Thanks!
unneeded: *gives you huge wide eyes of innocence and looks indignant. I never was! its not my fault if great minds (mine of course) think alike. *pouts. I would never read over your should cause that's rude! *pokes my tongue out at you. aaaaaaanyway, hehe. not much of a list there. draco really doesn't have much in the way of competition. what pitiful pickings. lol, mio granger gossip queen. ^^ well, at least it narrows down the list. i think 'cissa is going to be buffing for quite a while to soften har's rough edges. good thing she's a patient woman. She's off to a good start though... *shudders. the idea of ron and mio as parental figures for har... that's disturbing. gonna be while before i shake that off. thanks for that. >.< Oh ron... seriously. that idiot needs to be locked up and forced into theropy... or deported maybe, for his own safety. he's far to much of a loose cannon to allowed to wander free atm. still, the confrontation next chappie will be quite explosive. *pulls out comfy deck chair with can holders in the arms and a can of pepsi and starts making popcorn in preparation. ^^ *hugs* I didn't *seriously* think you were reading over my shoulder. I was teasing. Besides, I don't want to make you upset. I enjoy your reviews too much. =P Well, it's only a fraction of the list, but even still it's small. Narcissa knows what she's doing, and there's a reason Draco's name is the first. Yeah, Hermione can't help it that she has near perfect retention and Lavender Brown can't shut up. Narcissa is up for the job of buffing Harry, trust me on that. Especially if it means that Draco's happy. I didn't mean to scar you with that image, but it's really very accurate of their relationship in the books, if you look back on it. Ron, well, I feel sorry for him. He's got valid reasons as to why he's pissed, but he's not handling his temper very well and Harry's refusing to forgive him this time. Not a great combination, if you ask me. This was bound to happen. Give me candy, get a chapter early. ^_^ Just saying.
Chapter Twenty ~ A Showdown, of Sorts Reviews
Diana: Update soon! Please tell me you're joking, right?
delia cerrano: I've been dying for someone to tell Ron off forever! Can't wait to see what Mione has to say to Ron. Yes, there's more to come still. Ron and Harry are going to really going to have to learn to be friends again, as this conversation has really pushed Harry to his limits. Communication is going to by letter for a while. =P
moodysavage: I hope your mom gets better and that real life isn't driving you crazy... or at least not too crazy because life tends to do that. Great chapter! I always do like watching a powerful Harry and Ron needs to stop letting that temper of his rule everything... though I don't see him figuring that out. Thanks so much, moody! Real life is as insane as it ever was, but I'll live, I hope. I do love a powerful!Harry too, and you're right about Ron on both counts. Expect the reconciliation to be a long and difficult process between the Trio.
CareLessLover: Harry is quite pissed. Good job Ron at making Harry an enemey towards yourself. Plus, you just made whatever little doubt Harry had left vanish. Congrates! Yes, Harry's a little ball of ANGRY! Ron's a smart boy, yes? And you're right about Harry not having doubts about wanting distance between himself and Ron for good reason. But, our redheaded friend is always good for that, yes?
unneeded: i haven't harassed you have i? i hope not. whiny, naggy readers are a pet peeve of mine, along with crappy spelling/grammar, wall o text and misused words. worse yet, they can even put writers off up dating to spite them which is opposite to what they're after. seriously, who are we to demand a damn thing?! it's not like you're getting paid for this. It's great that they love your story and all but seriously people, kindly shut the hell up. thank you, before you piss the author off to the point that they go and post elsewhere. Ahhhhh, that feels better. Rant Complete. ^^ oh, arking up all over the place. volatile aren't they. good thing Cissa is getting good at fielding those. i think i agree with your friend though, to soon and it would have undermined it some how, robbing it of its force. good grief, ickle ronnikins is completely out of control... i mean, har wasn't exactly the epitome there either, but at least he's not attacking ppls property and carrying on like a complete nutter. i'm not looking forward to what mio has to say, it's probably going to be extremely painful for her. No, sweetie, I wasn't talking about you! I was talking to the people who sent me a ton of reviews (over on ff.net, not aff.net) DEMANDING that I update. There were three or four in the span of a few hours. I seriously contemplated just deleting the entire story, but doing something like that wouldn't be fair to you and my other loyal readers who wait so patiently. You can also thank Jokes for helping me see that! Thanks for your rant supporting me. It makes me feel better! Yes, Harry and Ron and Draco are just little balls of hate right now! Ron's definitely screwing things up by not at least being patient and waiting for things to be discussed like adults, but Ron's not really known for his maturity half the time, now is he? Harry's very angry, but it's more like angry on behalf of Draco and Hermione than for himself. No, Hermione and Ron aren't going to have a conversation full of sweetness and light. I'm just glad that Draco is seeing her more as a friend than before. ^_^
Seiren: Seems I missed reviewing a chapter last time, so good work on that one. For this one, I totally love when Harry lets his magic out to play. :D Great chapter and I hope home life is better soon for you x Yeah, you did. Ooops? It's okay! Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed it anyway. Yes, I love a powerful!Harry as much as anyone, but I just don't want him to hurt Draco and Hermione in the mean time! Thanks for the well wishes! See you next chapter! ^_^
Demonadine: ooo I am really liking this story! I can hardly wait for more. Why thank you! I'm glad that you're enjoying it and looking forward to more. Thank you for reviewing.
tkykitty: very interesting start. cant wait to see where it goes!
