When I had finally reached face to face with the man responsible for the death of my parents and the crippling of my younger sister, my sword screamed for his blood and my every nerve shouted for justice. What I wasn’t expecting was to be stopped by his dirty American lackey to shoot me right before I had my vengeance.

I woke up in a pit. I wasn’t sure how long I’d been out, but the area I was in was dark, dank, and wide open. I did an immediate inventory of my body. There were no injuries, but there was a hole in my shirt and a tender spot near my heart. That bastard shot me in the chest to save his pathetic employer. He’d rue the day he ever met Fujimiya Ran once I got my hands on him again.

A metallic clanging caught my attention and had me hugging the nearest edge of the pit. “Ah, Fujimiya-san,” a familiar voice called down to me. “It’s nice to see that you’re awake finally. I was starting to begin to worry that Crawford-kun had put you into a coma like your unfortunate sister.”

“Taketori,” I snarled. “Get down here, you bastard. I’ll show you unfortunate!”

“I will pass on your most generous of offers,” the old whore’s son said genially. “However, I have someone who would like to meet you.”

Before I could ask, a door that I hadn’t been able to see on the opposite side of the pit rolled up and I heard the deranged laughter of Schwartz’s bruiser, Farfarello, as he joined me while the door slammed shut behind him.

“Pick up your sword, Fujimiya-san,” Taketori ordered. “Farfarello is most anxious to have you become acquainted with his knives, and I’m just in the mood to allow it. This is your only chance, but I’m sure that you’ve figured that out by now. You always were too smart for your own good, just like your father.”

Light flooded the pit, and I could see my katana a few metres to my right side and the crazy Irish man in front of me, licking his knives, his visible orange eye shining unnaturally. I didn’t need to be told that he meant to kill me, but I had no intention of dying until the monster that taunted me was lying in my feet, breathing his last.

If there was a chance that I could come out of this nightmare alive, I was going to kill Farfarello and the rest of Schwartz to get to their employer.
With my eyes never leaving the white-haired man who grinned at me maniacally, I reached for my sword and started my fight to the death.
